Free use of Boomdoc
All publications can be viewed, in full or in part, for free.
It is possible to submit questions using the forms on the website and to email Boomdoc at boomdoc@budh.nl without creating a Boomdoc account.
Boomdoc account
A Boomdoc account is required to post comments and to upload, rate and/or purchase publications. Some personal data, like an email address and a password, is needed to create an account. Boomdoc uses this data to prevent improper use of accounts. For the purchase and delivery of paperbacks, address details are also required.
User data
Boomdoc automatically generates user data while the site is being used. Boomdoc links this data to users’ accounts in order to continuously improve its level of service.
Boomdoc gathers data on publications that are viewed, including their characteristics and the frequency at which they are viewed, as well as user-specific information displayed by users.
Personal details or content that users voluntarily make available online (e.g. comments on publications or profile pages) can be processed by others.
Use
Boomdoc may use your personal details and user data to improve and maintain Boomdoc.
Boomdoc does not use personal details and email addresses to distribute marketing materials without the explicit consent of the user.
Users’ email addresses are used for administrative and communication purposes, such as announcing major changes to Boomdoc.
Boomdoc uses the user data it gathers to provide users with depersonalised content and information and to generate statistical data as input for evaluation purposes.
This means, among other things, that users do not constantly need to enter the same information during subsequent visits.
Public data
Users with a Boomdoc account share some of their account data with other users, including most recent log-in date, number of publications viewed, country and age (if stated).
The user’s Boomdoc account name is displayed when he or she posts a comment on a publication or sends a message to another user.
Users can leave messages on each other’s profile pages.
Users have the option of adding additional personal information (name, sex, profile pictures, etc.) to their Boomdoc profiles.
This additional information is visible to other users.
Personal profile information
On their profile pages, users can change or correct their personal profile information, email preferences and privacy settings at any time.
At any time, users can determine what personal information they wish to share with other users by adjusting their Boomdoc account settings.
Users are not obliged to share their personal information. However, some functions on Boomdoc, such as ordering, downloading and paying for publications, do not work without certain personal details.
Advertising on Boomdoc
In the future, it will be possible to advertise on Boomdoc.
In order to provide users with relevant advertising and information, Boomdoc will gather user data and information on browser types and operating systems.
Boomdoc reserves the right to show users who are signed in to their Boomdoc accounts adverts based on the personal information in their accounts.
In the future, advertisers will be allowed to show adverts based on online activities that cannot be traced to individual users, such as previously viewed publications.
An advertiser may also show a user adverts based on that user’s previous activity on the advertiser’s website. This non-personal data is stored separately from the Boomdoc account data, just like the other personal information that Boomdoc has in its possession.
Community guidelines
Users of Boomdoc are subject to the Boomdoc community guidelines.
Users are prohibited from posting malicious comments attacking or demeaning a specific group on the basis of race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age and/or sexual orientation.
Aggressive behaviour, stalking, threats, harassment, privacy violations and disclosing the personal details of other users are not tolerated.
Boomdoc reserves the right to remove such comments without notice or reason.
Boomdoc also reserves the right to deny access to users responsible for such comments or conduct.
Boomdoc ensures that users respect the community guidelines.
Violation of the guidelines will result in the deletion of the relevant Boomdoc account.
A user whose account has been deleted may not create a new account.
